OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND NECESSARY TO ENTER. A PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

1. ELIGIBILITY:

The VRChat Spookality 2026 Contest (the “Contest”) is open to registered users of the VRChat platform, including its website, applications, and services (collectively, the “Platform”), who are thirteen (13) years of age or older at the time of entry. VRChat Inc. is the “Sponsor” of this Contest. Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to these Official Rules and Sponsor’s decisions which are final and binding in all matters related to this Contest. Winning a prize is contingent upon fulfilling all requirements as set forth herein.

If you are at least 13 but are under the age of 18, you may only enter the Contest with your parent’s or guardian’s consent and your parent or guardian must provide consent after having read these Official Rules. In such a case you represent and warrant and covenant that both you and your parent or guardian have read and consent to these Official Rules. If you are a parent or guardian consenting to these Official Rules on behalf of a child between the ages of 13 and 18, you additionally agree to guarantee and be fully responsible for that person’s performance hereunder and all disclaimers and waivers of applicable legal protections provided herein, and you agree to take all actions (including executing such additional documents or agreements) necessary to effect and perfect the foregoing. In all other cases, you represent that you are 18 years or older and fully competent to enter into these Official Rules, and you hereby agree and acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Official Rules without modification.

2. CONTEST PERIOD:

Contest begins at 1:00:00 p.m. Pacific Time (“PT”) on September 3, 2026 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. PT on October 1, 2026 (“Contest Period”). Judging will take place from October 2, 2026 through October 15, 2026. Winners and other featured entrants will be showcased during the period running from October 16, 2026 through November 2, 2026 (the “Showcase Period”). Sponsor’s computer is the official time keeping device for this Contest.

3. HOW TO ENTER:

During the Contest Period submit an avatar or world by logging into the VRChat website and clicking on the “Jam” button right under your profile picture or visiting this URL: https://vrchat.com/home/jams.

Automated entries are prohibited and any use of automated devices will cause disqualification. Potential winner may be required to show proof of being the authorized account owner. All entries must be received and recorded during the Contest Period. No other forms of entry are valid.

4. WINNER DETERMINATION:

A valid Contest entry will be evaluated by a panel of VRChat employees based on the following criteria:

Spookality 2026 Avatar Jam - In the Safe Zone

Performance: Must be Medium or better on all platforms (PC, Android, and iOS)
Style / Aesthetics: Is this a good-looking avatar?
Survival Rate: Does it match the “Survivor” theme? How was this interpreted?
Retro Horror: Is this something that would fit in with a 80s Horror Movie?
Extra Features: Bonus points for face tracking, neat tricks or gimmicks, etc.
Avatars MUST be cross-platform (PC, Android, and iOS)
Avatars must have been uploaded after the start of the jam!

Spookality 2026 World Jam - Huddle Around the Campfire

Concept Execution: What’s out there in the hazard zones? How were the Safe Zones implemented? Is the game design clever? How fun is the experience? How’s the writing? Does it feel like it pays off to finish things up?
Technical Execution: Is this world free of technical bugs?
Retro Horror: Is this something that would fit in with a 80s Horror Movie?
Overall Experience
Worlds MUST be cross-platform (PC, Android, and iOS)
Worlds must have been uploaded after the start of the jam!

Decisions will be final and at the sole discretion of the judges.

5. PRIZE DETAILS:

Avatars - In the Safe Zone

The twelve (12) highest-rated avatars by judges will be awarded a one (1) year VRC+ subscription;
A special Spookality 2026 badge;
Fast-tracked to Seller status in the VRC Creator Economy, if they’re not already a Seller;
A spot in a special Spookality public Avatar Row; and
A spot in the Home World mirror during the Showcase Period.

Worlds - Huddle Around the Campfire

The twelve (12) highest-rated worlds by judges will be awarded a one (1) year VRC+ subscription;
A special Spookality 2026 badge;
Fast-tracked to Seller status in the VRC Creator Economy, if they’re not already a Seller; and
Featured in a special Spookality World Row during the Showcase Period.

All other entrants will be featured in the applicable Spookality Avatar Row or World Row, after the winners.

Approximate Retail Value: Approximately $99.99 USD for each winner of a 12-month VRC+ subscription. Total prize value approximately $2,399.76 USD (twenty-four (24) total winners across both Jams). If a winner cannot accept prize as specified, prize will be forfeited and awarded to an alternate winner. Any difference between stated value and actual value will not be awarded.

Prize is non-transferable and no cash equivalent or substitution of prize is offered, except at the sole discretion of Sponsor. Winners of VRC+ subscriptions may request to split their subscription between up to four (4) users (e.g., 6-month subscription to 2 different users or a 3-month subscription to 4 different users). The Spookality 2026 badge may be granted to up to five (5) collaborative members per winning entry. If a prize or any portion thereof cannot be awarded for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right to substitute prize with another prize of equal or greater value. Prize winner will be solely responsible for all federal, state and/or local taxes, and for any other fees or costs associated with the prizes they receive regardless of whether it, in whole or in part, is used.

6. RELEASE:

By accepting a prize, winner agrees to release and hold Sponsor harmless from all losses, damages, rights, claims and actions of any kind resulting from acceptance, possession or use of any prize, including without limitation, personal injuries, death and property damage.

7. GENERAL CONDITIONS:

VRChat Inc. and its affiliates, subsidiaries, and agencies (collectively the “Released Parties”) are not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, unintelligible, returned or undelivered entries, telephone calls, text messages, email, or for lost, interrupted or unavailable satellite, network, server, Internet Service Provider (ISP), website, or other connections availability, accessibility or traffic congestion, miscommunications, failed computer, network, telephone, satellite or cable hardware or software or lines, or technical failure, or jumbled, scrambled, delayed or misdirected transmissions, computer hardware or software malfunctions, failures or difficulties, or other errors of any kind whether human, mechanical, electronic or network. Persons who tamper with or abuse any aspect of this Contest, or act in violation of the Official Rules, or act in any manner to threaten or abuse or harass any person, or violate the Platform’s terms of service, as solely determined by the Sponsor, will be disqualified. Released Parties are not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information whether caused by Platform users, tampering, hacking, or by any of the programming or equipment associated with or used in this Contest, and assume no responsibility for any errors, omission, deletion, interruption or delay in operation or transmission or communication line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized website access. Any use of robotic, macro, automatic, programmed or like entry methods will void all such entries, and may subject that entrant to disqualification. Released Parties are not responsible for injury or damage to a participant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from participating in this Contest. Should any portion of the Contest be, in the Sponsor’s sole opinion, compromised by virus, worms, bugs, unauthorized human intervention or other causes which, in the sole opinion of the Sponsor, corrupt or impair administration, security, fairness or proper play of this Contest, or submission of entries, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Contest, and select the winner from valid entries received prior to action taken, or otherwise as may be deemed fair and equitable by the Sponsor. SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE LIMITATION OR EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY FOR INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR OTHER DAMAGES.

8. DISPUTE RESOLUTION:

All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of the entrant, Sponsor in connection with the Contest, or any claim or dispute that has arisen or may arise between you and Sponsor, shall be governed by the dispute resolution, arbitration, and choice of law terms set forth in the VRChat Terms of Service, available at https://hello.vrchat.com/legal.

9. PRIVACY POLICY:

Entrants’ personal information will only be used for purposes of Contest administration unless an entrant expressly consents beforehand in writing to such other use by Sponsor. For more information, please review VRChat’s Privacy Policy at https://hello.vrchat.com/privacy. In the event of any discrepancy between the privacy policy and these Official Rules, the privacy notice shall control and govern.

For entrants from the European Union, Sponsor will process your personal data as data controller in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 (“GDPR”). Personal data will only be used for the purpose of administering the Contest and will be retained only as long as necessary for that purpose. Entrants have the right to access, correct, or delete their data, and may contact legal@vrchat.com to exercise these rights.
